European Harvest Analysis Information
SPAIN:WHEAT
Samples of the 2019 wheat harvest from Spain contained few measurable mycotoxins. Those that were detected fell into the type B trichothecenes family (DON group) and emerging mycotoxins group. Deoxynivalenol (DON) was the only type B trichothecene detected in these samples, while enniatins A/A1 was the emerging mycotoxin present.
These mycotoxins were detected at lower average levels overall.
The 2019 heat and drought weather pattern across Spain did not provide the most ideal environment for molds such as Fusarium graminearum which typically prefers wetter conditions. This resulted in much lower risk levels of Trichothecenes in the wheat crop.
